Stroll through delightful displays of scarecrows crafted by Arboretum staff, artists and visitors alike around the theme “Connecting People, Plants and the Planet.” Don’t miss Scarecrow Hill, where the Arboretum’s Horticulture Team creates dozens of playful and imaginative characters. Wander past the charming Pumpkin House, marvel at magnificent scarecrows handcrafted by community members, and spot giant round straw bales playfully decorated by Arboretum staff! Which Bachman’s store has made the most creative scarecrow? Each of the six Bachman’s locations brings a unique creation to the garden — and you get to vote for your favorite! Cast your vote starting on Sept. 18 to help crown this year’s champion. From Oct. 3–31, discover over 500 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds — possibly a World Record — grown by the Arboretum's John and Jenny Thull! Explore this one-of-a-kind collection at the Oswald Visitor Center entry circle, admire the Dahlberg Terrace Pumpkin Tree and learn about cooking squash with recipes from Jenny Thull’s hand-picked favorites in Rootstock. All pumpkins, squash and gourds on display are for sale at the AppleHouse, 1.5 miles west of the Arboretum's main entrance!
